Customisation

Value-added processing

Material can be processed to suit your manufacturing process, so it arrives ready to use.

Pooling

Larger batches made by pooling serum or plasma from several donors. Where useful, we can make a small mini-pool for you to evaluate before the full batch is made.

Defibrination

Fibrin removed from plasma to give a defibrinated product, to your volume requirement.

Sterile filtration to 0.2 µm

Serum and plasma sterile filtered to 0.2 µm to remove particulate matter and cellular debris.

Bioburden testing

Microbiological quality testing of the material, typically after processing such as pooling or defibrination.

Anticoagulant choice

Plasma in the anticoagulant your assay requires, such as EDTA or lithium heparin, subject to availability.

Donor recall

Where a marker is rare, qualified donors can be recalled for repeat collections, so you are not relying on a single lot.

Tell us the end use. Processing choices depend on the assay and platform. If you are not sure whether you need filtered, defibrinated or pooled material, describe the application and we will suggest what usually works.

Need something collected specially?

Bulk supply draws on material we hold and donors we can recall. When your specification needs a dedicated project, designed and planned around your protocol, that is a prospective collection.

Common questions

Before you enquire

Single donor or pooled?

Either. Single-donor units suit work where traceability to one donor matters. Pooled material suits large calibrator and control batches where consistency across the lot matters.

Can you process the material for us?

Yes. Pooling, defibrination, 0.2 µm sterile filtration and bioburden testing are done in our own laboratory, so the material arrives ready for your process.

Can I get a repeat supply of a rare marker?

Often, yes. For rare markers we can recall qualified donors for repeat collections so you are not relying on a single lot.

Can I evaluate before committing?

In many cases, yes. Ask for evaluation or side samples with your specification and we will confirm what is available. For pooled batches we can make a small mini-pool for you to evaluate first.

How do I specify what I need?

Analyte, matrix, volume, titre range, anticoagulant and any processing. If you are unsure of the titre, tell us the assay and platform and we will suggest what usually works.

What if the material you need is not in stock?

Then it is a prospective collection: a dedicated project planned around your protocol and run under IRB approval. See our prospective collections page.
