Glossary
Terms we use
Supplier vocabulary varies. Here is what these mean on this site, so a specification means the same thing to both of us.
- Residual clinical sample (CRS)
- Remnant material left over from routine diagnostic testing, supplied with its original result. Usually small volume, single donor.
- Bulk
- Single-donor or pooled units at volume, for calibrator and control manufacture where consistency across a large batch matters.
- Matched set
- Multiple matrices — for example serum and plasma, or serum and swab — collected from the same donor at the same draw.
- Prospective collection
- Material collected to your exact protocol and specification, drawing on our donor network.
- Disease-state plasma (DSP)
- Plasma from donors with a confirmed condition. Synthetic DSP is formulated to a defined concentration, in a human matrix, rather than collected.
- Titre
- The measured concentration or dilution endpoint of the marker in a lot. The number that determines whether material suits your assay range.
- Certificate of Analysis
- The document accompanying each lot recording marker result, method, matrix, collection date and storage.
FAQs
Questions we are asked most
What is a residual clinical sample?
Remnant material left over from routine diagnostic testing, supplied with its original result. It is usually a small volume from a single donor.
What is disease state plasma?
Plasma from donors with a confirmed condition. Synthetic disease state plasma is instead formulated to a defined concentration in a human matrix, rather than collected.
Where is SeraDiag based?
Our laboratory is at the Bio-Innovation Centre, 25 Cambridge Science Park, Cambridge CB4 0FW. Our registered office is 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX.
How do I specify what I need?
Analyte, matrix, volume and any titre range. If you are unsure of the titre, tell us the assay and platform and we will suggest what usually works.
Can I evaluate before committing?
In many cases, yes. Get in touch with your specification and we'll confirm what's available for your account.
What if the marker is not in your catalogue?
Ask anyway. Our donor network spans multiple countries, and our catalogue represents only what's currently listed.
Do you supply outside the UK?
Yes, we ship worldwide. We prepare the export documentation for every export shipment.
Can we audit your quality system?
By arrangement, at the Cambridge laboratory or remotely. Send supplier questionnaires with your enquiry rather than after ordering.
How is material shipped?
On dry ice, packed to IATA requirements with documentation prepared.
