CUSTOM PROJECTS

Prospective plasma and serum collections

When the material you need is not on the shelf, we plan and run a collection around your requirement: your protocol, your donor criteria and your documentation, under IRB approval with informed donor consent.

When it fits

When a prospective collection is the right route

Stock and bulk supply cover most requests. A collection is for the ones they cannot.

A rare marker

Where stock does not hold the marker, or holds too little of it, a collection can be planned to find it.

A narrow window

Some markers are only positive for a short period. A project can be planned around when donors are qualified and collected.

A specification stock cannot meet

Specific donor criteria, clinical information captured at collection, a particular matrix or anticoagulant, or a volume at one titre.

Repeat supply

Where you will need the same material again, qualified donors can be recalled for repeat collections.

Need existing material in volume? If stock already meets your specification, see bulk and custom plasma for pooling, processing and donor recall, or search the product finder.

How a project runs

From brief to release

Every collection is planned individually. This is the shape of a typical project.

1

Brief

You tell us the marker, matrix, volume, donor criteria, any clinical information to be captured, and what the material is for.

2

Design and plan

We plan the project around your requirement and send back how the collection would run and what is needed from you, including whether it can run under an IRB-approved protocol.

3

Agree the documentation

Before collection starts we agree what donor data and documentation travel with the material.

4

Collection

Donors are consented and collected to the protocol. Where a marker is rare, qualified donors can be set up for recall.

5

Process and characterise

Material can be pooled, defibrinated or sterile filtered to 0.2 µm if you need it, and each lot is tested and recorded.

6

Release

Each lot is released with a Certificate of Analysis and the documentation agreed at the start.

Ethics

Consent and approval

Collections run under IRB approval with informed donor consent, and donors remain deidentified. Consent scope is matched to the intended use. The documentation agreed at the start travels with the material. See our ISO 9001 quality system for how lots are controlled and released.

Common questions

Before you enquire

What is a prospective collection?

A custom, dedicated project to collect human plasma or serum to your requirement, designed and planned with you rather than picked from stock. It is the route when the material you need does not exist on the shelf.

Can you collect under IRB approval?

Yes. Collections can be run under IRB approval, with informed donor consent. Send us your protocol and we will confirm how it would be run and what documentation you receive.

Can we collect under our own protocol?

Yes, that is the usual route. Share the protocol and any donor eligibility criteria with your enquiry.

What do you need from me to plan one?

The marker, matrix, volume, anticoagulant, donor criteria, any clinical information you need captured, and the assay or application. If you are unsure about any of it, describe the use and we will suggest what usually works.

Can I get repeat collections of a rare marker?

Often, yes. We can set up recall of qualified donors so you are not relying on a single lot.

Can the material be processed after collection?

Yes. Pooling, defibrination, 0.2 µm sterile filtration and bioburden testing are available. See our bulk and custom plasma page.

What documentation comes with the material?

A Certificate of Analysis with every lot, plus the donor data and consent and ethics documentation agreed before collection starts.

How long will it take?

It depends on the marker, the donor criteria and the volume, so we do not quote a standard time. Send your requirement and we will come back with a plan and an expected timeline.

Tell us what you need collected

Send your protocol or a short brief: marker, matrix, volume, donor criteria and the application. We will come back with how we would plan it.
